Guernsey Knitwear Newsletter, July 2001
Dear Newsletter Subscriber,
You may be rather surprised to get a Guernsey Knitwear Newsletter in
the
middle of summer but we have recently made several improvements to the
web
site, which we hope will be of interest to you.
Apart from a new colour scheme (a lighter and fresher green, called
Sea
Green, appropriately), we have added a couple of new navigational aids,
which
we hope will make life simpler.
Firstly we have added a "Guide to Sizing". This Measurement
Chart can
easily be accessed by clicking on the new "Size Guide" button
on the Home
Page and also wherever you see a highlighted reminder about sizing in
the
text. However, the simple rule to ensure a perfect fit, is to measure
your
chest/bust and add 4 inches! But please remember, that if you are buying
a
surprise gift for someone else, you can always make an inspired guess
as to
their size, because we will always cheerfully exchange or refund, if you
have missed the mark!
The second development to the site concerns the procedure for placing
an
order and we hope that this guide will be easy to follow. Just click on
the
"How to order" button and print it out if you prefer. Don't
forget,
however, that we are at the end of the telephone line (0800 735 1004
Freephone from within UK. +44 (0) 1534 855318 Outside UK) if you require
any help and we are always delighted to hear from you.
Finally, we have added quite a few colours, namely to the SuperSize
Guernseys and to Children's Guernseys, although they are not all stock
items. But they are well worth ordering, if you don't mind a few weeks
delay while they are knitted.
I am sure that you will be glad to know that our gentle Channel Islands
remain as beautiful as ever and indeed one sees quite a few people wearing
their Cotton Guernseys in the glorious sunshine!
I am always encouraged to realise that we all play a small part in the
continuing saga of the Guernsey, which happily is one of the few items
still
hand finished (two and a half hours) in the cottages. Long may the
tradition continue, with your support. In this day and age of mass
production of clothing that falls apart in a couple of years, let us with
your help, confound the doctrine of 'Built in Obsolescence'!
May you enjoy a pleasant summer,
Kind regards,
Guy
