I have an old guernsey made of a worsted wool. It has a very hard polish and is not at all scratchy. I bought a guernsey from an importer over here for my girlfriend, and to my surprise, the wool was a nice but fluffy woolen yarn, not the dense, smooth, tightly twisted worsted yarn I expected. What can you tell me about this variation? Are guernseys made of both types of yarn? What about yours? Any comment you could provide would be most welcome. Thank you.

You may recall my order earlier in Septemebr. I wrote you to request delivery advice because I planned to wear a new sweater from your company during an offshore sailing adventure. I have just returned from a spendid trip and thought I would jot off a quick report to you. The sweater arrived in good time and I immediately put it to use in brisk, wet Atlantic autumnal weather. You will be pleased to know that it exceeded my greatest expectations, and after only a week, it already feels like an old friend. Thank you for a wonderful product and prompt, cheerful attention to my order. I am already cruising your website for more colors! Thanks again. Stan Murphy

We have just returned from a week in Jersey, and try as we might we could not get a cotton guernsey for my daughter aged 6, to replace the one we bought 2 years ago in Guernsey. (she finds the woollen ones too itchy). So it was quite a surprise to look in the Telegraph on our return (we had forgotten to cancel it) and notice your e-mail address. My question is about the sizing for children in the cotton. Do we still add 4 inches to her chest size? I have a feeling that that will make it awfully big.

Many thanks for your acknowledgement. I forgot to add the free t-shirt to my shopping basket. Please can you include a 42. This is a gift for my stepfather who celebrates his 70th Birthday and has been trying to buy a guernsey sweater for some time, but been unable to track one down. Your site is excellent and you will make a 'young' man very happy. Many thanks again Gillian

Dear Mr. Lort-Phillips,The mailman just brought your package with the zippered jacket I had ordered for my husband. I wanted to let you know that it arrived safely. It is exactly what I had looked for and I am sure he will be very happy when he receives it for his birthday. His birthday is on 3 May and I do not want to give it to him before that date, so I am not sure whether the size 40 is large enough. It looks fine to me, but he will have to try it on. The colour is beautiful. Thanks you very much for being so helpful. Sincerely,Brigitte Therivel

Dear Guy -- just heard about your present upcrockedness. Hope things are not too dire and that you're comfortable. Not too much we can do from here apart from transmitting therapeutic thoughts, but we all hope you're beginning to feel their effects! Let us know how you're progressing (this e-mail channel is probably the quickest means). If you survive the ministrations of the Socialist quacks in London (which sounds likely) we very much hope that your plans to travel to Oz will proceed without interruption! All love and best wishes to you and Jenny ... Steve,Thank you very much for your inquiry about our Guernsey knitwear. Answersare as follows:1. All genuine Guernseys are knitted in the same wool and so the P&S styleGuernsey and Traditional Guernseys are the same weight.2. SuperSize Guernseys suit men who are at least 6'3" tall. But thetraditional Guernsey, being long in the body in order to keep the kidneyswarm, is an excellent sweater for long waisted people.3. The Traditional Navy Blue shown on the Web Site colour chart is prettytrue. The P&S Guernseys and the Traditional Guernseys in real life are thesame colour.4. They are all extremely warm and equal in thermal qualities, being of thesame unique knit. This comes about because of the special 6 gauge denier ofthe wool and the very tight twist given to the yarn, which is not found inordinary sweaters, as it uses a lot of wool!5. They are not bulky but should be worn loose in order to give freedom ofmovement, as there is hardly any stretch in the tight knit. Allow 4" morethan your actual chest measurement for a perfect fit.6. We do indeed have size 50" Traditional Navy Blue and P&S Guernseys instock.7. Why not order on-line and get your FREE T.Shirt!!Regards.Guy

I am interested in the famous author, Victor Hugo. As you would know, he was a distinguished resident of Guernsey whilst in excile from France and completed many of his works, including Les Miserables, whilst there. Any information would be most welcome.Regards, Peter.
