The Guernsey Knitwear Company was founded in 1998 when Guy Lort-Phillips realised that this wonderful, historic product, from his home in the Channel Islands was now only to be found in one or two ship's chandlers and was in danger of dying out.

Since then Guy and his staff have sold thousands of items of knitwear, still knitted as they always were on the Channel Island of Guernsey, all around the world. In doing so the Guernsey Knitwear Company and its customers have helped keep a part of Britain's seafaring tradition alive.
WARNING
WHEN IS A GUERNSEY NOT A GUERNSEY?
There is no substitute for the traditional Guernsey Knitwear. Beware and do not let them pull the wool over your eyes.
It follows that any firm including the word "Guernsey" when describing its knitwear styles, may only legitimately do so, if their product is knitted in the British Channel Island of Guernsey, using the famous oiled worsted wool and is hand finished in the cottages.
We take pride in being part of this Island community. Consequently, as you would expect, we supply only the original Guernsey Knitwear.
As a matter of interest, the patterns used to knit the genuine Guernsey have been handed down from one generation of our Islanders to the next, for hundreds of years!
Use of the terms Guernsey Sweaters or Guernsey Knitwear by English firms which cannot conform to the above criteria are, in our opinion, intended to mislead the public.
